Youngsun Jin

Pianist Youngsun Jin is acclaimed for performances that combine refined musical insight with expressive freedom, bringing clarity and depth to a wide range of repertoire.

Born in Korea, Jin studied at Yewon School and graduated from Kookmin University before continuing her studies in Germany. She completed the Professional Performance Program at the Hanns Eisler School of Music Berlin and the Konzertexamen at the State University of Music Trossingen. She later earned another Konzertexamen in Chamber Music at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, becoming the first musician in the institution’s history to graduate from the highest program in chamber music.

Early in her career, Jin gained recognition through numerous competitions in Korea before establishing herself internationally. She was a semifinalist at the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona and the Johannes Brahms International Competition in Austria. She subsequently won First Prize and the Jury Special Prize at the Thessaloniki International Chamber Music Competition in Greece and Second Prize (with no First Prize awarded) at the Charles Hennen International Chamber Music Competition in the Netherlands, where she also received the Barenreiter Urtext Special Prize. Her other distinctions include First Prize at the Alexandre Scriabine International Competition in Paris and First Prize at the C. Bechstein Piano Competition Baden-Württemberg.

As an EMCY artist, Jin has been invited to numerous European concert tours, masterclasses, and festivals. She has performed widely across Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, and Greece. Her performances have included appearances at the Stuttgart International Chamber Music Festival and the Orlando International Music Festival in the Netherlands.

She has also appeared as a soloist with the Niederschlesische Philharmonie Orchestra in Germany and has been featured on WDR television and radio broadcasts.

A passionate chamber musician, Jin has been the pianist of Trio con Spirito for over 19 years. Alongside her performing career, she is dedicated to teaching and currently serves as Adjunct Professor at Kookmin University, while mentoring young musicians at several leading institutions in Korea.
