Violinist Jinhee Joung is praised for the clarity of his tone and the depth of his musical expression. Active as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral leader, and educator, he has performed widely across Europe and Korea.
Born in Korea, Joung received his early musical education at Yewon School and Seoul Arts High School before studying at Seoul National University. He later moved to Germany to continue his studies, completing the Professional Performance Diploma and the prestigious Konzertexamen at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig and the University of Music and Theatre Rostock. He further expanded his artistic profile by earning an additional Konzertexamen in Chamber Music at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart.
His principal teachers include Werner Scholz, Eberhard Feltz, Carolin Widmann, Florian Wiek, the Vogler Quartet, and Anke Dill. Through Werner Scholz he continues a distinguished pedagogical lineage tracing back to the legendary 19th-century violinist Joseph Joachim.
Joung has received prizes at several international competitions, including the Sophie Charlotte International Violin Competition, the Charles Hennen International Chamber Music Competition in the Netherlands, and the Thessaloniki International Chamber Music Competition in Greece. He was also a semifinalist at the Maria Canals International Music Competition in Spain and the Brahms International Competition in Austria.
A scholarship recipient of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation and an artist affiliated with EMCY, he has appeared at numerous festivals and concert venues throughout Europe.
Deeply committed to chamber music, Joung is a long-standing member of Trio Con Spirito, with which he has cultivated an extensive repertoire over more than two decades of collaboration.
Alongside his concert career, he is dedicated to mentoring young musicians and teaches at several major arts institutions in Korea.
He performs on a 1933 violin by Annibale Fagnola of Turin.
